I failed my 1-hour gestational diabetes test. For those of you out of the loop on those things, it’s a standard test they have pregnant women do to check them for gestational diabetes. I had to drink some stuff that tasted like flat orange pop, or a melted orange popsicle and then get my blood drawn an hour later.
They told me I should eat as normal, and I had just run out of oatmeal, so I had some Frosted Mini Wheats before I went for the test and sure enough, my sugar level was a little too high. So, they are making me come back in on Friday morning for this 3 hour test. I’ll have my blood drawn, drink more flat orange pop, and then have my blood drawn after 1, 2, and 3 hours. I don’t know which will be worse, hunger or the draws.
In other health-related baby news, I’m also on the low side of “normal” for iron. The doc would like me to start taking some iron supplement to help me stay ironic
HA! Anyway, they said that the baby is just using a lot of my iron, so I need to take something to help keep my level up and it will hopefully help me to not be so tired. A miracle pill, perhaps?
Baby is good- he kicks a lot. I think he has me trained like Pavlov’s dog…he kicks, I get hungry. Go figure.
We’ll keep ya posted.
